心内科二病房目前共有医护人员50人，其中主任医师6人、副主任医师9人，21人拥有博士学位或海外留学经历。坚实的临床医疗基础是保持和提升全科综合实力的有力保障，心内科二病房在诊治各种心血管疾病疑难重症的基础上，以心律失常、冠心病、心力衰竭和心脏性猝死的综合防治为特色，能够开展项目齐全的心脏介入诊疗项目，包括各种心律失常的导管消融术、经皮冠状动脉支架术、心脏起搏器和除颤器(ICD)植入术、心脏再同步治疗(CRT)等;近年来开展的临床新技术包括冷冻球囊消融心房颤动、心腔内超声(ICE)指导下的心律失常导管消融、经心外膜导管消融术、左心耳封堵术、冠状动脉内全吸收式生物血管支架植入、以及遗传性心律失常(如长QT综合征、Brugada综合征等)的基因诊断与个体化治疗等。

2006年5月，全国首家“房颤中心”落成于北京安贞医院心内科二病房并开设了房颤门诊，专门服务于广大房颤患者。多年来马长生教授及其团队完成的房颤导管消融手术病例数量和质量始终居于国内领先地位，首创单导管消融和“2C3L”术式治疗持续性房颤的疗效达到国际领先水平。目前，北京安贞医院房颤中心已跻身世界知名房颤中心的行列，为我国和亚洲国家培养了一大批房颤导管消融的独立术者，引领着我国房颤领域临床与科研工作的发展方向。

北京安贞医院心内科二病房的科研力量雄厚，科研资源丰富，拥有包括北京市心血管生物样本库在内的实验室面积1500平方米，可开展心血管疾病相关的分子生物学、细胞电生理学等基础研究。截至2013年底已完成863计划、国家“十五”科技攻关计划、国家自然科学基金等省部级以上科研项目20余项;目前作为负责人承担包括3项“十二五”国家科技支撑计划项目在内的在研课题20余项，累计科研经费达6290万元。其中，由科技部立项、北京安贞医院领衔的“中国心律失常注册(C-Rhythm)”是国内最大规模的心律失常注册研究项目，首批将建立包括心房颤动患者20000例、遗传性心律失常患者1000例以及社区人群50000例的队列，该项目的完成将有望进一步整体提升我国心律失常诊治和研究的水平。

北京安贞医院心内科二病房为我国心血管专业培养了大批人才，很多从这里走出去的研究生、博士后、进修医生现在都已经是国内知名的心血管病专家或所在城市、医院的心血管专业学科带头人。北京安贞医院心内科二病房现有博士研究生导师3人，硕士研究生导师 3人，在读硕士、博士研究生30人，在站博士后5人。过去的几年中团队先后获得国家科技进步二等奖、教育部高等学校科技进步一等奖、中华医学三等奖、北京市科技进步一等奖等多项学术奖励;马长生教授主编的《介入心脏病学》、《心律失常射频消融图谱》、《心脏病学实践》、《心房颤动-临床实践与治疗进展》等是在国内心血管界具有广泛影响、深受欢迎的专业参考书。

Introduction of Department of Cardiology Ward 2

Department of Cardiology of Capital Medical University affiliated Beijing Anzhen Hospital is one of largest treating and training cardiac centers in China with the state of the art facilities. The department is headed by Prof. Chang-Sheng Ma who is a renowned clinician and academician in the field of cardiology in China. Currently, he is the President of Chinese College of Cardiovascular Physicians (CCCP), the President-elect of Chinese Heart Rhythm Society (CHRS), Director of National Clinical Research Center for Cardiovascular Diseases and Director of the Office of Prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases of Beijing City. Under the leadership of Prof. Chang-Sheng Ma, Ward 2 of the Department of Cardiology has significantly improved the standard of patient-centered care while at the same time kept up with the latest developments in medicine. This has greatly attracted many patients from all over the country.

Ward 2 is currently staffed with 50 personnel including 6 chief physicians, 9 assistant chief physicians. Twenty-two doctors are PhD holders or had experience of overseas training. A strong clinical practice is always crucial in the development of a department. Apart from general and critical cardiology, Ward 2 excels in prevention and management of cardiac arrhythmias, coronary heart disease, heart failure and sudden cardiac death. A wide variety of procedures which are undertaken include catheter ablation of different types of arrhythmias, percutaneous coronary interventions, implantation of cardiac devices like implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), etc. In the recent years, new technologies which have been undertaken include cryoablation of atrial fibrillation, intra-cardiac echocardiography-guided catheter ablation, ablation of arrhythmia via epicardial access, left atrial appendage exclusion procedure, bioabsorbable coronary stent implantation and genetic diagnosis of inherited arrhythmias (long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome, arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy, etc).

In May 2006, the first Atrial Fibrillation Center in China was established in Ward 2 of Beijing Anzhen Hospital with a specialized clinic. Prof. Chang-Sheng Ma has pioneered the field of catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation in China which is the main focus of our center. Our center has been leading nationwide in quantity and quality of the procedures performed. The ablation techniques developed by our center include single-catheter technique and an approach namely “2C3L” for persistent atrial fibrillation, which have achieved high success rate similar to that of other centers in the developed countries. Currently, Atrial Fibrillation Center of Beijing Anzhen Hospital is ranked among the world renowned centers and has greatly contributed in training Chinese and Asian doctors who can independently perform catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation.

Ward 2 of Department of Cardiology has established a strong foundation in research with the newly established 1,500-square meter Beijing Cardiovascular Biobank where basic research in the field of cardiovascular diseases-related molecular biology and cellular electrophysiology will commence. Until the end of 2013, we have concluded the “11th Five-Year Plan” National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), the “10th Five-Year Plan” National Scientific Research Programs, National Natural Science Foundation and 20 other scientific research projects. We are now the principle investigators of more than 20 ongoing projects including 3 “Five-twelfth” National Science and Technology Support Program projects, yielding research funding over 62 million RMB. Late in 2013, Prof. Chang-Sheng Ma was named as the Director of the National Clinical Research Center of Cardiovascular Diseases and immediately sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology to conduct a National Cardiac Arrhythmia Registry project, namely “C-Rhythm”. This is the first and largest arrhythmia registry in China and is expected to recruit 20,000 cases of atrial fibrillation, 1,000 cases of inherited arrhythmia and 50,000 individuals from the community during the Phase I of the “C-Rhythm” project. At conclusion of this project, we look forward to a significant improvement of the clinical practice and scientific research in the area of cardiac arrhythmia in China.

Ward 2 of Department of Cardiology has trained a large number of specialists including post-graduate, post-doctorate and senior fellows who are currently known in China or holding major positions in their respective cities. Currently, Ward 2 of Department of Cardiology is proud to have 3 PhD supervisors, 3 Masters supervisors, 30 Doctorate/Master candidates and 5 post-doctorate fellows. Over the past few years, our team has won the second prize of National Prize for Progress in Science, first prize of Ministry of Education for Universities in Scientific Progress, third prize of Chinese Medical Prize, first prize of Beijing Scientific Progress. Last but not least, Prof. Ma has authored some of the most widely read Cardiology books in China including “Interventional Cardiology”, “Atlas of Catheter Ablation of Arrhythmias”, “Cardiology Practice” and “Atrial Fibrillation: Management and Treatment”.
